Chevelle demonstrates a solid sound that has been rounded out in their previous 3 albums. Those albums showed the band experimenting with some new approaches compared to their first two albums. La Gargola has a hard hitting, well rounded sound which I would say is the result of the bands previous experiments. Although I wouldn’t say this album produced as many greats by the band, it holds up on its own as a solid rock album. It’s gritty at times, the drums and guitars seem to have a sharper sound to them and the vocals are as aggressive and melodic as ever. While La Gargola may not be the bands best album, it is definitely solid as a whole making for an enjoyable listen.
