Story of the Year: Page Avenue

Released: September 16, 2003

Page Avenue was the debut album from Story of the Year who burst on to the rock scene with this gold certified album. Story of the Year became one of the bands with a great first album that has held it’s value through the years. Even though this album is 11 years old I personally still love it as much as I did when it came out.

The album has many great songs and it all starts with the high-throttle, in your face song “…And the Hero Will Drown” which is where the name of this blog comes from. The next two tracks are the highly popular singles “Until the Day I Die” and “Anthem of our Dying Day”. The album tones down a bit on the songs “Swallow the Knife” and “Sidewalks” but maintains a good momentum throughout. Overall, this album has a perfect balance of energy and thoughtful lyrics.

When this album first came out I was hooked…11 years later I still love it and I can’t say it has lost any value. This album came out at a time when the rock scene was in what I consider a pretty good place in the early, post-90’s world. Honestly 2003 was a pretty good year for rock music and this album is one of the reasons!

Score: 8.9
