P.O.D. : Payable on Death (2003)

Payable on Death is the bands self-titled album that followed their most successful release Satellite from 2001. This album moves away from the bands prior nu-metal sound and moves in the direction of more traditional Metal with some Reggae influence mixed in.

This album sort of dials the energy down a little and has more of a soothing an soulful vibe to it…That’s not really what attracted people to this bands prior work but I guess it’s cool that they drew from a different area of influence on this one.

I wouldn’t say that this is a bad album, but the fact that it lives in the shadow of such an iconic album, it gets overshadowed. Overall, this album produced one really great song in Will You? but other than that, it just lives within itself as a middle of the road album. It starts off really strong but feels as if it is put on autopilot the rest of the way through.
