Fall Out Boy: Folie a Deux

2008

Folie à Deux is the album that really showed this band honing their skills and solidifying their sound. While the prior albums had their charm, this one just feels bigger, bolder, and overall stronger as the band sounds like a more tight unit. The title, Folie à Deux, is french for “a madness shared by two”…This is a good representation of this album as it has two noticeable emotional states in the first and second half of the album. The first half has this confident and anthemic vibe while the second half is more melodic and thoughtful. This album has the youth energy of the bands earlier work while showing signs of Patrick Stump’s classy, vibrant, style of rock that was heard on his 2011 album which was his next project after this album. This is a good listen with some great songs on it. Upon writing this I just remembered that this band has a new album coming out soon…Turns out that it gets released tomorrow! What a coincidence, I honestly wasn’t doing this review today in anticipation of the new release. I will be reviewing that album here in the near future!

Key Tracks: I Don’t Care, America’s Suitehearts, The (Shipped) Gold Standard, Tiffany Blews
