Creeper: Sanguivore (2023)

Sanguivore is the third album from the English Rock band Creeper. The album’s themes are all based around vampires, which was inspired by the end of covid-19 lockdowns in the United Kingdom. The band had already been planning on eventually doing an album that was based around the topic of vampires, and the recent world events sparked the fire of interest for the band at the time.

As I listen to this album, I can’t help but think of rock legend Meatloaf. The beautiful blend of sounds, along with the style of this album, sounds like it was heavily inspired by his work. I would also add in a hint of HIM into the mix for the darker nature. Cry To Heaven is beautiful and dark with its choir, like inclusion to balance out the dark vocal tones and themes.

The Ballad of Spook and Mercy has such a beautiful instrumental from start to finish. It makes me think of the Transiberian Orchestra with a Gothic spin. This goes for the song that follows as well. This band style isn’t for everyone, but there’s no denying their talent, artistic ability, and passion for their craft. This is a great rock album that needs to be listened to all the way through. It’s a beautiful work of art. I could see this being an album that gets more recognition as time goes on.
