HIM: Razorblade Romance (2000)

Razorblade Romance was the second album released by Finnish Gothic Rock band HIM. The album saw the band’s sound take on a more melodic style in general. The album actually had a different opening track on the UK release. The song was titled Your Sweet 666 and it is available to hear on Spotify aside from this album. While the album has a more melodic style as stated before, it still blends some heavy sounding instrumentals at times making this beautiful blend of dark and light. The track Razorblade Kiss is one that blends the elements very well.

Heaven Tonight is a great track in the albums second half that I feel would have been a great single for the album. It has the emotional drive blended with a dark atmosphere and smooth vocals that are present in many of the bands biggest hits. Resurrection is a poetically smooth and blends the rock elements with the darker tone of a piano ballad very well. This album is a great listen from start to finish with a few really memorable tracks. The band surely went on to make some of their best work after this album and I would say this was a bit of a springboard for them.
